For those in a hurry, the tl;dr is: Please pardon the mess around here for now, as I’m still figuring out the nuances of this platform after spending 11 years on Blogger.
Eleven years ago, I had a dream: a dream to be a world-class blogger, making millions of dollars per year while traveling the world. It was a simple dream, but through hard work and perseverance, I knew that I could make it a reality. Flash forward to the present day and…
…oh, who am I kidding? I was bored and just wanted a creative outlet to write a few reviews. I completely and honestly expected it to flame out within two years, but a decade later, and it is just now starting to hit its full stride. It’s never going to be something I take all that seriously – I have plenty of other hobbies (and a family) to fill the majority of my time – but it’s a fun way to feel like I’m making some type of difference in the world, no matter how small. I mean, if I’ve prevented even one person from buying Dollar Tree aluminum foil, then I’d consider my mission a win.
I spent all the previous 11 years on Google’s Blogger platform, which is certainly simplistic…but eventually, its simplicity became little more than a series of frustrating limitations. It was my penny-pinching attitude that kept me on a free site rather than spending money for a more advanced platform (in my defense, I am the owner of a budget-minded blog), but after much debating (and my wife finally telling me to just do it), I decided to take the plunge. And that is why I’m here, where I’m hoping to spend the next 11 years!
Anyway, I could ramble on for hours, but the gist is, consider this a work-in-progress for at least the next couple weeks as I get everything set up the way I want it. The foundation of the site should be pretty solid, but there are still some things that need ironed out – especially for mobile users – so please pardon the mess! Eventually, this is going to transform into a site that’s even better than I ever envisioned possible; it’s already better than it ever was on Blogger.
And once again, thank you, dear readers, for all the loyal support! Even though virtually all of my traffic is one-off Google searches, I still couldn’t do it without you all. Here’s to hoping 2022 is our best year yet!
Sincerely,
Me
P.S. I don’t want to clutter the main feed with non-review content (since that’s what I assume everyone is coming here for), so this is all I will mention of it here. For updates on the progress, please feel free to visit the “News” section above.
